How do I know if I need to take the car and trailer test?If you passed your standard car B driving test after 1st January 1997 you are required by law to take a further test to tow trailers or caravans. Check the back of your license to see which categories you can drive.

Who needs to take the car and trailer driving test?All people who want to tow trailers or caravans above the B licence limit. i.e. Council and utilities personnel, caravan owners, horse-box owners, boat owners.

How many lessons do I need to pass the test?It depends how much experience you already have with towing. We can carry out an initial assessment and advise you how long we think it will take to pass the examination. The cost of this is £45 but will be taken off the price of the course if you choose to book with us.

What does the test involve?The test will last around 60 mins and will involve: A simple sight test A reversing exercise Un-hitch and hitch exercise Driving in varying traffic conditions Uphill, downhill and angled starts Questions about the safety and loading of the outfit.

How much does it cost to take the test?The DVSA Test Fee is £115, plus the cost of the training.
